December 2025 Newsletter

This term our Group Lead Volunteer Karen Hutchinson invited all of our members, volunteers and supports to attend a winter weekend camp at the John Lowther Scout Centre , to commemorate our former leader Lyle Abbott for all of the incredible volunteering work he did for over 60 years for Scouting in Irthlingborough.

Beavers Cubs and Scouts enjoyed lots of traditional scouting activities, including, den building

fire lighting,

backwoods cooking and of course, a campfire to toast marshmallows on.

Our young people all achieved lots of badges over the weekend, including the very important Nights Away badge.

We also held an awards party, where our adult volunteers and young people were all recognised for their achievements throughout the year, including some long service awards given out to adults who have given up their time to volunteer in Scouting.  A special shout out to Nick Powell for his 30 years service award.

Lyle Abbott was always a strong advocate of making sure that everyone, young and old, is properly recognised for their achievements and contributions in Scouting.

The weekend concluded with a lavish BBQ, once our young people had gone home and we welcomed a few supporters and volunteers from years gone by to help celebrate the life of Lyle Abbott in true style.
