October activities
This month our young members have been busy developing their map reading skills, including making their own maps of the local area, learning first aid, cooking on camp stoves and exploring our local wildlife and we celebrate a major award!
Beavers have been talking about and planning for the forthcoming Group Camp in November. For many young members this will be their first time camping and being away overnight from parents/family, a big step in growing their self-confidence!!
Cubs have been out & about down the Greenway, bug hunting and tracking. The cubs have also been learning and practicing First Aid skills, in order to achieve their level 2 First Aid badge.

“Gold” Duke of Edinburgh Award
Huge Congratulations to Katie Ward, one of 1st Irthlingborough’s young adult volunteers on achieving her ‘GOLD’ Duke of Edinburgh Award! In recognition, Katie will be attending a reception at Buckingham Palace in May 2026 to celebrate with other Gold Award recipients.
