Summer Term Update – News Sheet One

Welcome to the summer terms Cub Section news letter.

Activities

We are just about to finish the Summer Term at Cubs after successfully completeing lots of skill-based activities, including:

Fire-lighting.

Tracking.

Pioneering.

Knots

And an attempt at making a Ballista!

Growth

We have just started to benefit from a projected three-term increase with Beavers moving up to Cubs. The September Term will add another 7 Beavers to the 16 Cubs already enjoying our activities.

To support this growth we need Parents to provide back-up assistance to the Leaders. At the moment we have ONLY TWO Warranted Leaders. We are asking that all parents agree to be ‘CRB’ checked to enable them to help as and when they can, during their sons/daughters time at Cubs. We have started to receive support from a few parents but need to develop this to allow us to keep to our varied programme offering high quality activities to the Cubs.

Thanks for your support

Cliff

Spring Term Update – News Sheet One

Welcome to this terms Cub Section news letter.

Michael – Arkela

For the foreseeable future Michael Arkela will not be with us for any Cub night/events due to work commitments. Any communication queries that you would usually take to him. Now need forwarding to myself on either of the above numbers or via email at clifford.smith70@ntlworld.com

This Terms Focus

This term we will be trying where possible to get out side at every opportunity. Your son/daughter will need some rough footwear and trousers. As the nights become colder when the fantastic sun disappears they will need a coat please. They will still need their Cub jumper and pocket packs please.

The skills focus will be fire lighting, knots, tracking, tent pitching to name a few.

County Cub Camp 19th – 21st June £40

To find out what 2009 County Cub Camp has in store for your son/daughter. Why not have a look on the Northamptonshire County Cub website. Click here to go to a gallery of photos from the 2007 County Cub Camp. The County Cub Camp only runs every two years.

Please find attached the new Permission slip for the County Cub Camp. This replaces the one issued last week 21st April

County Activity Day 12th July £5

An excellent opportunity for a whole range of activities. This takes place at the John Lowther Centre Kettering. This was the same venue that we camped at in April of this year.

We need your Help

Cubs at the moment are short of some adult help. We are at the moment being supported by help from the beaver leader team. Have you considered helping out once a month or supporting us at an event? Do you have a skill that cubs could benefit from? Talk to any leader.

I know at the moment it is increasingly difficult to find the finance in the current climate. If you do have any worries with either subs or the forth coming camp in June, please contact me.
